About CID
WHO IS CID?
Crop Innovation Denmark (CID) is a formal public-private partnership. Our purpose is to strengthen the cooperation between the partners and set the strategic agenda for Danish plant breeding research.
Together the CID members cover Danish breeding and research within grasses, cereals, potatoes and protein crops.
The partners are DLF, Nordic Seed, Sejet Plant Breeding, Danespo, University of Copenhagen, Aarhus University and The Danish Agriculture and Food Council.

The strategy 2030
The significant climate and environmental challenges that we—as a society—are facing call for action, including in food production. A major contribution to addressing these challenges in a robust and sustainable way lies in continued improvements in plant genetics. Crop genetics form the foundation of plant production, and the interaction between genetics, management, and environmental factors is of great importance for both sustainability and productivity. Thus, genetic improvements in the crops we grow today and in the future can create substantial positive environmental and climate impacts, while also enhancing value creation—both directly in crop production and in subsequent stages of the global food production chain.
Crop Innovation Denmark (CID) is a formal public–private partnership. The partnership consists of the plant breeding companies DLF, Danespo, Nordic Seed, and Sejet Plant Breeding; the University of Copenhagen and Aarhus University; as well as Landbrug & Fødevarer and SEGES. The purpose of CID is to strengthen research and innovation collaboration among the partners and to set the strategic agenda.
Vision
Danish plant research environments will carry out business-oriented research at the highest international level. Here – at the intersection of public and private research and innovation – new knowledge and tools are generated that accelerates the breeding progress to meet the climate targets and increases the competitiveness of CID’s partners.
Mission
CID will create scientific and commercial added value in its partners research and development activities, and work to position plant breeding at the core of solutions to the challenges of climate change and future food and biomass production.
